Go Big in 2025

This past Saturday, we drove Whit back to Camp Lejeune. Before we dropped him off, however, we had dinner with my high school buddy, Stacy, who lives in the area. She mentioned that her son has traveled extensively due to his job. Wyatt, my youngest son, said he'd like to travel some, too. However, he doesn't have the money so he's not even entertaining the idea.

The defeatist attitude shocked me. Stacy immediately spoke up and said, "Don't put that negativity out there. Just dream. You don't know what God has planned."

A discussion followed, at some points with snarky comments from Wyatt. He mocked us for believing we can "manifest" things just by thinking about them. I'm not sure where he got this idea, and we tried to correct his thinking. Having a dream, a plan, or a goal, is like having a road map for your future. You've got to at least have an idea of where you'd like to go in life. Writing it down simply helps clarify your goals.

Just thinking about your dreams won't accomplish them.

There is an old saying about goals: aim at nothing and you'll hit it every time.

Last year, I achieved several of my goals that I had written down. I wanted to write a screenplay that would win some awards. And I wanted to get an agent. Check off those boxes. Thank you, Jesus!

That's not all my goals, but I figure achieving something is better than achieving nothing. And I've got a new year to tackle unrealized dreams again.

Of course, the most important thing about determining dreams and goals is making sure you've talked to the Lord about them. Jesus said we have not because we ask not. Scripture also says the Lord gives us the desires of our hearts.

I urge you, as I have urged my son, seek the Lord's plans for you and then go after them! Get focused on them. Train your brain to think toward them. And trust that the Lord will guide you and open doors for you.

And give him all the glory!

Just like we want to see our children happy, prosperous, and fulfilled, our Heavenly Father wants those things for us.

Therefore, I urge you to dream big. Yeah, the higher you reach, the further you can fall. Believe me, I know. But our Father will catch you if you fall. Most likely, he'll dust you off and tell you to try again.

What do you think?
