Fighting Your Calling Tooth-and-Nail

So, I'll be painfully honest here: my two sons haven't quite figured their lives out yet.
Well, phrased like that, who has?
What I mean is, while most kids their ages (20 ad 23) are at least jammed into a role fitting parental or societal expectations, my boys are still course-correcting.
Wyatt, my youngest son took a year after graduating high school to work for his father. This led him to decide yeah, okay, college was for him. He's now attending a community college and deciding on his next step. He was initially sure he wanted to go into marketing...
Now, I'm hearing doubts about this plan.
Recently, he watched the movie, The Man Who Invented Christmas. If you haven't seen it, it's an emotional story about how Dickens dealt with his personal demons through his writing. The result was a timeless tale that would redefine Christmas fiction. After watching it, Wyatt said to me, "It almost makes you want to write something impactful."
I had to grin. Writing a story that impacts readers, especially for the Lord, is a heartfelt goal of mine. It's what gives what I do meaning. Still holding my sly grin, I said, "Hmm. Sounds like maybe you should quit running from your calling."
He just grinned and walked away.
My other son, the oldest...well, we'll talk about him at another time.
There is a book called Late Bloomers: The Hidden Strengths of Learning and Succeeding at Your Own Pace. I recommend it. It helped me not put so much stress on my boys, and pray with more peace about them finding their way.
What about you? Do you have any kids who are wandering?
